Tay the Lion Queen
About Tay
Hello there and welcome! My name is Tay. I am a millennial age member of this beautiful Earth family and want to make my life one of adventure, learning, and teaching.
I was born to two wonderful parents in Denver, Colorado. I attended a Montessori school until fourth grade which is, as defined: “a system of education for young children that seeks to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal teaching methods.” Really, it is a schooling system that allows kids to move at their own pace and excel as far as they want in subjects they are gifted in all while keeping up with grade level curriculum. Being able to begin my education in this way and being empowered by my parents, I was able to develop a much different way of thinking than the public schooling community produces. |

Around first grade, my parents began to notice that I was not accelerating the way they expected me to. I was reading on grade level even though my vocabulary was that of an eleventh grader. They began to look into what could be causing my slow moving learning and after many tests and specialists they discovered that I had a learning disability caused by being sick a lot of the time my brain was developing as a baby. The neuro-pathways in my brain formed, but they all formed in the wrong ways. What my eyes told me I saw was not what others would see. What I heard was not what others heard. I went to many therapies like vision therapy and voice tutoring to correct these things so that I could keep up with my education and after a year or so I was excelling far, far above grade level. This, however, opened their eyes to the way I saw things. We soon discovered that I had what the science and medical field calls synesthesia. This in big words is defined as “the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.” In normal people terms, I mix up two of my senses. For me, my synesthesia mixes my sight and hearing. Instead of hearing sounds as sounds, I hear sounds as colors and see them visually as waves of colorful energy through the air. People’s voices are colors, music is colors, the sound of the wind blowing through the trees is color. You can see why I had such a problem focusing on education.

After fourth grade, my parents decided that the big city was not the type of place they wanted to raise a family so we left Denver and moved to a very, very small town in northwestern Iowa called Pocahontas. My little sister, Bear, and I were exposed to a completely new life and the freedoms that came with living in such a small town and safe place. From sun up to sun down we were out on our bikes exploring town, playing with our friends and doing the kind of stuff kids should be able to do like getting into the creek and coming out with toes full of leaches and going to small town sports games.
Being in such a small and old town, life became much simpler. My parents, who had previously worked nine to five jobs and were preoccupied with the hamster wheel of society, suddenly had more time to spend with us. We were closer than ever as a family. My mom opened up a yarn store and my dad was the property manager of some rentals that they had bought upon moving. We lived in an old craftsman house, built around the turn of the century and with the age of the house came all of the past energies that came with it. My mom started to pay much more attention to my comments on seeing people that no one else could see and we soon discovered that I had psychic gifts as well as my synesthesia. |
Now, we have to take a step back. When I was around seven, I came into contact with a woman. This woman was beautiful and kind to me. She was always there when I was lonely and always there when I was scared reassuring me with soft words. She told me to call her “Lucy” and so I did, talking to her nearly every day. When I told my parents about her, at first they assumed she was my imaginary friend. When it continued into my adolescence, however, my mom began to become more and more curious. At first, we thought that she was a ghost or spirit, following us from home to home in order to protect me. She and my dad had had encounters with moving objects when I was a baby and had already thought that I had some kind of guardian angel or spirit. My mom began to ask me questions about her and have me ask her questions. Around this time, when I was about fourteen, both of my parents had been diving deeper and deeper into metaphysical spirituality as well as doing research into many other religions and beliefs so my mom began to believe that Lucy was something not of my imagination but a true guide. We began to refer to her as my “Spirit Guide” as research began to surface the traits of one: providing me with information about the spiritual world, protecting me energetically from harm, etc. The more and more my connection with Lucy was fostered by my parents, the more information she gave me.
When I began to see symbols in people’s eyes I assumed that it was part of all of the others things my eyes saw. When I talked to Lucy about them, however, she told me they are a gift I had been given to discern where souls were from and some things about that person: a cheat sheet, if you will, for my soul to take head of when meeting new people. As I have grown older, I want to share this with others, so that they may know themselves and others better.
The symbols I see in eyes are the “watermark” of the universe or energy that a soul was exposed to upon birth. Much like the zodiac, our souls are constantly exposed to astrological and metaphysical energies that leave lasting impressions and effects on our personalities. I believe that every time our soul is born, from the beginning to each earthy incarnation, the All’s energy changes us in some way, giving us new obstacles and strengths to add to our lives and lessons learned. The point of life, I believe, is to expand our souls, to learn and learn and learn, raising our vibrations through each discovery and energy conquered. This is where the archetypes come in:
|
If our soul’s purpose is to learn and expand, what better way is there than putting different personalities through different trials and hardships in an infinite number of combinations over and over again? Think of the energies we are exposed to as archetypes. They easiest to universally think of are ones like scholar, great mother, father, child, devil, god, wise old man, wise old woman, the trickster, the hero, etc. Think of how these archetypes translate to something more complex like the zodiac. Capricorns are known for being logic based and cunning i.e. the wise old man and trickster. Virgos are innocent but intelligent i.e. the child and scholar. Sagittarius are strong and courageous but hard headed i.e. the hero and father. All energies and influences are there to form archetypes for our personalities to fit into and grow upon. They are what make us who we are. One can even say that our parent’s energies influence our souls and form them as well, so we can even call the astrological and metaphysical energies that influence us our spiritual parents as well.
Our souls are really a culmination of every energy that has touch us before, which eventually makes for a truly wondrous thing. But, where did we begin? And does that initial energy stay with us for all of our other experiences? YES! Our soul’s first “parent” I believe is the most important. That first archetype you are exposed to is what makes you who you are underneath all the others. Your original archetype is who you are at your base and what you will refer back to when you are in need of strength or threatened. This “Original Archetype” is what the symbols in your eye represent. This lasting mark on your soul by the energy that first touched you, right in the “Windows to the Soul” your physical body was born with. It is poetic in a beautiful way. Through many conversations with Lucy and my own knowledge of different mythologies and archetypes, I deciphered each symbol and paired it with a Greek God or Goddess. I decided to go with a polytheistic pantheon because what are the gods of old but archetypes? Each one represents different worldly and other-worldly things like love, war, knowledge, etc. just as archetypes do. The gods are simply more complex combinations of separate traits to form a larger archetype.
Knowing about where your soul was formed and what influences you at your core is not just something to say “Oh, yeah, that is totally me.” The point of knowing is to further your soul as a whole. Knowing that if you are an Athena (the goddess of wisdom and justice) and that you have a tendency toward coldness when threatened means that you should work on allowing love into your heart as well as all of the other beautiful emotions instead of pushing them out for the logical solution. Knowing who you are at your core is a starting point to avoid the things the gods themselves failed at, and become more than one archetype.

I am an Artemis, raised by an Athena and a Demeter. My Athena mother taught me how to think and have a guiding moral compass. My Demeter father taught me how to be compassionate and loving towards others. My mother goddess Artemis drives me to be courageous and loyal but sometimes overly emotional. My parents’ influences allow me to be calm and know how to solve problems without over reacting. Without allowing other energies in, I would make the same mistakes the goddess Artemis did in her myths and will not let my soul grow and expand.
When learning about your eyes, keep in mind to look at their faults too and learn from them. Look to those around you and learn from them as well. Never stop growing and never stop raising your vibration. Always seek the truth above. Namaste, Tay |
